Princess Daphne first appeared in Dragons Lair on arcades in 1983. The game featured animations by renowned Disney animator Don Bluth. Daphne was actually inspired by Playboy magazine. When she made her first appearance, it was one to be remembered forever as at the time no one had seen anything like it before. Due to hardware limitations of the era, Dragon's Lair artist were restricted in what they could use. She was brought to life using the now dated technology laserdisc. In the game, she was held captive by the evil dragon Singe. He held her in the Wizard's castle in the first game. The game had a comedy-like approach to it. She was rescued in the game by Dirk The Daring.

    Voice

Princess Daphne was voiced by Vera Pacheco, under the screen name Vera Lanpher. Vera Pacheco would continue to voice Daphne in Dragon's Lair 2: Timewarp, and Dragon's Lair 3D: Return To The Lair. Along with her voice work she has done animation for numerous films and television shows.
