A pirates of the caribbean RPG ? Might be my very first RPG that i commit to because the POTC world is too awesome for a video game!

This could be pretty cool if done well.  Kinda like Sid Mier's Pirates but fleshed out and all snazzy.  However, I'm not gonna get my hopes up as the developers haven't got the greatest history.

This are the same studio that made that new god-awful Turok game. Lets not kid ourselves into believing that this game will be any good.

The first PotC game was pretty good. It had nothing to do with the movie though, other then the inclusion of the black pearl which could have been completely left out of the game. Probably my favorite Pirate game.

An RPG movie tie-in doesn't sound all that appealing to me.

I am cautiously optimistic.  Any game associated with a movie franchise should be taken that way but I do like the idea of a pirate RPG and the material from Pirates of the Caribean is good.

Pirates segment in Kingdom Hearts 2 sucked, and I'm gonna assume this is a whole game of that.

I'm not a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean. It just seems to take generic pirate movie elements, and generic fantasy movie elements and mashes them together. However, a decent pirate-based RPG would be awesome, whatever universe it's set in. And Johnny V is working on it, so it has got to be awesome!!!!

It could be good. I won't get too optimistic, you can never really trust movie based games these days. I'll be keeping a watchful eye on this'un.

Like all movie IP derived franchises, it won't get interesting until the movie IP is dead and they can move into the expanded universe and do whatever the hell they want.

It's definitely an interesting concept, but I'm extremely dubious of it.
Sandbox doesn't = good game, sometimes it's better to have more of a structure.  
 
I also don't have much faith in the developers either way.

If this turns out good I will be a happy person, but until I see gameplay I will remain, cautiously optimistic

Given that pirates suck, I don't see how this could ever be good...

Then again, I was proven wrong with Batman: Arkham Asylum, so maybe this could be awesome.

You do realize that the movies are based on a theme park ride, right?  If anything, I think I'd rather people call it a movie tie-in than a fucking theme park tie-in.  Also, it may not have to do with the movies DIRECTLY, but it is based on the world that was created essentially by Disney and then refined by Bruckheimer and company.  In turn...it's as much of a movie tie-in as Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was a movie tie-in. "
