A pirates of the caribbean RPG ? Might be my very first RPG that i commit to because the POTC world is too awesome for a video game!
TORTUGA, BABY!

Edit: Here's the Gamespot first look of the game
Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned
Game » consists of 3 releases.
A massive open-world RPG where players could sail the vast seas and discover booty in the Pirates of the Caribbean universe. At least it would have been if the project hadn't been cancelled in late 2010.
If they pull this one off, it's gonna be SO good!
The first PotC game was pretty good. It had nothing to do with the movie though, other then the inclusion of the black pearl which could have been completely left out of the game. Probably my favorite Pirate game.
Never heard of the new one though.
I am cautiously optimistic. Any game associated with a movie franchise should be taken that way but I do like the idea of a pirate RPG and the material from Pirates of the Caribean is good.
" I do like the idea of a pirate RPG and the material from Pirates of the Caribean is good. "you know it! Anyone who says otherwise clearly has never been to Singapore.
I'm not a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean. It just seems to take generic pirate movie elements, and generic fantasy movie elements and mashes them together. However, a decent pirate-based RPG would be awesome, whatever universe it's set in. And Johnny V is working on it, so it has got to be awesome!!!!
It's definitely an interesting concept, but I'm extremely dubious of it.
Sandbox doesn't = good game, sometimes it's better to have more of a structure.
I also don't have much faith in the developers either way.

I will be optimistic on this one
" movie tie-in game of a bad movie series, no thanks "@Binman88 said:
" An RPG movie tie-in doesn't sound all that appealing to me. "Both of you realize that it isn't a movie tie-in...it has nothing to do with the movies(Hence it being set in a timeline before the movies even happend)...it just uses the material..
Given that pirates suck, I don't see how this could ever be good...
...especially when Propaganda is at the helm. = /
Then again, I was proven wrong with Batman: Arkham Asylum, so maybe this could be awesome.
I'll try to keep a straight face while I continue to say that.

Also, it may not have to do with the movies DIRECTLY, but it is based on the world that was created essentially by Disney and then refined by Bruckheimer and company. In turn...it's as much of a movie tie-in as Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was a movie tie-in.
yeah after hearing jeff talk about it on the bombcast he made it sound awesome" @trophyhunter said:

Nothing Pirates of the Caribbean is 'SO good' besides for the ride, and then they put Jack Sparrow in an ruined it.
" Given that pirates suck, I don't see how this could ever be good...But all this game is, is a pirate game set in the universe of Pirates of the Caribbean..nothing to do with the movies. As for The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age they had to use things from the book or the movies, so everything had to be able to be tied into the movies or the book, that was to prevent a lawsuit from the original owners. This game will just be a pirate game, most likely not including the characters from the movies at all. Similarly to the last PoTC game that was on the original Xbox.

Most likely the only similarity between the movies and this game will be area names. And maybe some ship names. Like the black pearl.
