Overview

PAX West 2018 was the twelfth Penny Arcade Expo to take place at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington and the fifteenth PAX on the west coast.

The PAX West 2018 Storytime Session (keynote) speaker was Blizzard Entertainment (Company)'s Ion Hazzikostas.


Registration & Attendance

Registration for PAX West 2018 began on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 12:00 PM PDT.

  • Friday ($50 US) - Sold out within 9 hours.
  • Saturday ($50 US) - Sold out with 40 minutes.
  • Sunday ($50 US) - Sold out within 60 minutes.
  • Monday ($50 US) - Did not sell out.

The PAX 10

A panel of 50 industry experts rated dozens of submissions to narrow it down to just ten. To be eligible for entry, games cannot have outside funding, cannot be mods of existing games, and must be in at least beta form. Previous games featured in The PAX 10 include Celeste, Ridiculous Fishing, Rogue Legacy, Bastion, Audiosurf, Johann Sebastian Joust, Machinarium, Fez, Darkest Dungeon, Night in the Woods, and The Maw.

The Omegathon

The Omegathon is an annual tournament held at PAX that pits 20 randomly selected attendees in a three day marathon of games that span the spectrum of the gaming universe. After each round, some participants are eliminated. Each year, the final game is held secret until moments before the final two Omeganauts enter battle.
