CONCEPT

The ninth annual PAX Prime took place between August 31-September 2, 2012 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington.

For the sixth consecutive year, PAX (Concept) invaded the Washington State Convention Center as well as much of downtown Seattle (Location). Offsite venues hosting events included the Sheraton Hotel, the Grand Hyatt, the Red Lion Hotel, and the Paramount Theater.

The Storytime Session host (keynote speaker) to kick off PAX Prime 2012 is Ted Price (Person) of Insomniac Games (Company).

The PAX 10

In 2012, a panel of 50 industry experts rated dozens of submissions to narrow it down to just ten. To be eligible for entry, games cannot have outside funding, cannot be mods of existing games, and must be in at least beta form. Previous games featured in The PAX 10 (Concept) include Bastion (Game), Audiosurf (Game), Machinarium (Game), Fez (Game), and The Maw (Game).

The Omegathon

Omegathon Finals

The Omegathon is an annual tournament held at PAX that pits 20 randomly selected attendees in a three day marathon of games that span the spectrum of the gaming universe. After each round, some participants are eliminated. Each year, the final game is held secret until moments before the final two Omeganauts enter battle.

Registration began on April 27, 2012, but traffic crashed the registration site. The site was reinstated on May 2, 2012 and 3-day badges sold out within six hours. Single day badges were gone within twenty-four hours of that.
