Overview
A one-dimensionally evil character is one who revels in genuine malevolence. Most often an antagonist, the motives of this individual's deeds and ambitions are not the result of a victimization, and therefore evoke little moral empathy or sympathy. The characters become excluded from this trait if or when it is made evident that they:
- have had a traumatic or tragic experience in the past that affected their mental state.
- have a potentially misplaced sense of justice; seeking revenge from a wrongdoing committed against them or someone they cared about.
- have a potentially misguided belief that their actions will not only benefit his or her self, but the world around them as well.
- ultimately reform their ways and become good.
