    Overview

A notoriety system is a gameplay device commonly seen in open world titles such as the Grand Theft Auto series. It indicates law enforcement level of attention and pursuit towards the player. By default, the player character's notoriety begins at zero, but gradually rises as the player performs certain actions, such as firing a gun in a public place or being caught trespassing in restricted areas. As the player's notoriety level rises, hostile forces will target and pursue the player; the higher the level, the more aggressive the action taken against the player.
