Overview

Mojang AB began with its foundation at the hands of Markus Persson (Person), Jakob Porser (Person) and Carl Manneh (Person) in 2010. Since then, it has become one of the most popular game developers in the world, all thanks to the success of Minecraft (Game). The studio has since expanded and continues to develop and support Minecraft, while simultaneously developing other games such as Scrolls (Game). In addition to their developer status, they have also operated as a publisher for Cobalt (Game), developed by Oxeye Game Studio (Company), which was originally founded by Minecraft's second lead designer, Jens Bergensten (Person). On September 15, 2014, the studio was acquired by Microsoft for 2.5 billion dollars and also marked the departure of the three original founders.
