well with the recent sad news about ME2 getting shut down (which isnt such terrible news once i remember that less DICE projects = better BF3 quality), why dont we see just how much the GB community loves/hates Mirror's Edge !
on my first playthrough i thought the game suffered flaws and got occasionally frustrating, but on my second one i simply got the direction DICE wanted to take with it and felt the game for what it truly was, and beat it happily !
so i'll give it an 8.. pretty good and unique game, so visually captivating.
Edit: also, call me crazy, but on that second playthrough, i thought the gun combat was SPOT ON !! its shittiness was deliberate and fucking brilliant ! its hard to explain, you either get the hang of it or keep thinking its bad..
Mirror's Edge
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Nov 11, 2008
In a futuristic totalitarian dystopia, a master courier (in a group of renegade "runners") investigates a conspiracy, while outrunning the deadly government military, in this parkour-inspired first-person action game.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you like Mirror's Edge ?

There are moments of greatness when Faith is constantly on the move performing tricks or trying to avoid gunfire but as soon as you pick up a gun or have to stop and think about the platforming it falls apart. I can see why EA wouldn't want to do a sequel.
9. Wish I could give it a 10 because my favorite moments in Mirror's Edge are really amazing, but, the combat is shit and there are a couple of sections that are really confusing/frustrating.
I gave it an 8, I'm the kind of person that doesn't mind digging through BS to get to the good stuff and Mirror's Edge has some diamond level moments when things work right.
It feels like an older game in the way it's made. It's hard for no good reason and it has a bunch of really strange design decisions, but if you master the systems involved you get a lot out of it.

The movement and jumping feel so spectacular, and unlike other games' chase scenes I never dared look back. I feel like they were on to something with the hand-to-hand, and enjoyed how disposable firearms were (not saying they were fun to shoot, just enjoyed picking one up, firing three shots, and tossing it). And talk about a game with visual style...loved the absolute lack of grit, even in the sewers!

yu coan't evan play onlinez!!!!!!!! Al u does is run round as sum chic! Black Ops FTW Xbox360 RULZ!
7, really like the concept of a first person climbing around game, those are my favorite types of games after all, but the execution fell flat most of the time. Also, since I went through the game without ever using a gun (Test of Faith trophy) it could be really, REALLY frustrating at parts.
I say if a sequel, spiritual or not, ever gets made, remove the ability to use weapons permanently and just make the character more powerful. Maybe add a wrist-mounted buckle to block bullets with? I'm not asking for realism, I'm asking for awesome.
I have this soft spot for freerunning in first person :P
8, It has great moments but also its fair share of not-exactly-the-best level design and mechanica decision. Also it had the most-promising-turned-most-lame-story of that time, which is also a shame. But the concept, the feel when we could seamlessly freerun through ten blocks straight was so great.. man, I'll miss this game.
I think I played maybe an hour and a half of it before I lost interest. An interesting experiment but hardly a game. I'm not deeply saddened by the canning of the sequel but it is a shame a genuinely innovative new idea got shut down before it had a chance to be something really cool.

Would have been a ten, but one part sticks out in my mind as pretty frustrating.
After I heard the news I decided to go ahead and download it off Steam again.
I must have played through most of the game five or six times, because I was really addicted to the time trial mode and figuring out ways of getting around that I hadn't thought of before.
It's definitely one of those games that you can only truly appreciate if you become really, really good at it.

I really enjoyed it the one time I played through it. It had a great sense of style, immersive atmosphere, innovative mechanics, and some really memorable sections. It kind of felt like I was playing some near-future Luc Besson movie in some spots. But of course, it wasn't executed especially well in a lot of ways. There was some real jacked level design, which made for more frustrating trial-and-error bits that I would have preferred. Also, the gunplay was pretty terrible, and the end sections of the game seemed to rely on you using guns too much. I didn't think the melee combat was that bad, though.
I think it's a shame that there won't be a sequel in the works any time soon, because that is absolutely a game I would like to see improved upon.
" Mass Effect 2 was shut down? No way... "WHERE HAVE U BEEN BRAH ?
ITS ALL OVER DE NEWS
8 I found the game really fun and I loved the way it looked, had some really frustrating parts though.
Well it's my fav game of all time and I played through it 30+ times I would give it a ten. The gunplay was awesome at making you want to use her hand to hand skill and if you could play the game it was beautiful and fluid. I am soooooooo sad to hear of the caned me2 and am so depressed now.
