I saw it on sale on PSN and keep going back and forth on it? Is it still worth it and is it really as good as everybody says it is?
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Game » consists of 15 releases. Released Sep 30, 2014
An open-world action-adventure game by Monolith, set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Is Shadow Of Mordor worth buying for $25
Yes. SoM is a solid open world game on its own, and the nemesis system, while maybe not as great as it's been painted by some corners of the Internet, is very fun to mess with.
I found it very slow, boring, and bland early on. But once you start unlocking abilities and using the nemesis system to your advantage, it became very satisfying and fun to play, as well as one of my favourite games of last year. I got it for $45 and felt satisfied with my purchase, so for $25, I'd say its a steal, and if you don't enjoy it early on, I'd recommend persevering through the earlier stuff in order to see what the game truly has to offer.
It looks good, it moves fast, the 2nd area is way more visually interesting then the first. As a first pass on a new game system (Nemesis) its an amazing proof of concept.
The story is completely throw away but the combat + movement is smooth as butter and the upgrade path turns you into a fucking badass, and the stealth is really really well done.
It's a pretty good game, I'd recommend it to fans of the genre (Batman's Creed) for that price, no questions asked.
Loved it and felt like I got every penny out of the $60 price tag, so $25 sounds like a steal to me!
Just a heads up, don't get the last gen versions. The last gen versions are neutered in terms of performance and nemesis system.
It is amazing fun! I found the story interesting despite hearing a lot of negativity about it. In regard to gameplay, it is flat out. FUN. I am not one to get into complicated systems and all that, but the nemesis system is easy to understand and I was completely engrossed in it. If you're into trophies, it's also a fun and easy platinum.
@dumptruck05: Ive been wondering the same thing I still have my 10 bucks credit from getting my psn so I might pick it up too
this even gets the rorie seal of approval, so thats your question answered. good game is good takes a bit of time to get good but when it does its good and at 25 notes thats not a bad deal for a good game.
Yes, it is. That's a steal for that game.

It's good mindless fun. I don't play on the harder difficulties generally but this game turns you into a totally invincible, ruthless beast right around the halfway point and a lot of the challenge is lost as well as the real intrigue of the Nemesis system (and I mention difficulties because there is no adjusting it). I've read about people making their own fun with it afterwards but I personally ignored most of the systems at that point and just steamrolled through Mordor like the One Ring was an insignificant waste of bronze (or whatever). Which was a lot of fun for me, a great power fantasy, but if you like a challenge or a good story it's worth noting both of those things are insignificant to what ultimately made Mordor so fun.
I enjoyed it at full price though so I'd definitely be in love with it if I'd gotten it for more than half off.
