Meowth is part of a Team Rocket trio with Jessie and James. He is the only Pokémon with the ability to speak.

Overview

Meowth is a unique Meowth (Concept) Pokemon that originated in the anime series. He is unique in that he is capable of human speech. He learned how to speak in order to impress a female Meowth named Meowzy, who subsequently rejected him because speaking human tongues made him a "freak". In exchange for learning how to talk, Meowth cannot learn the move Pay Day. Meowth is a member of Team Rocket and a partner of Jessie and James. Together, the three attempt various schemes to steal Pokemon, such as attempts to kidnap Ash's Pikachu (Character). However, when a threat far more serious than Team Rocket's own mischief raises its head, he is not above teaming up with Ash and his friends. It is worth noting that in Pokemon Yellow, which was based on the anime, Meowth did not talk.
