Medea
The granddaughter of Helios, niece of Circe, and sorcerous consort to Jason of the Argonauts in Greek mythology. She is the eponymous protagonist of Euripide's play Medea.

Though the specifics vary (as they do with all Greek Myths), in most versions of Medea's story, including in Euripide's play, Medea is cast aside by Jason in favor of a new, younger wife. Enraged by this betrayal, Medea murders the children she had with Jason, an act that marks the beginning of the hero's fall from grace.
