Present in most action games, where people can say cheesy stuff and get away with it. Usually spoken by the hero, before or after wasting a dude.
Anarchism is the rejection of all government authority.
Violence doesn't solve everything - in these games you have the option to arrest perpetrators instead of killing them outright. Often a bonus is attached to taking suspects in alive.
The Black Market is a concept wherein players may buy or sell items through alternative means. This is often a way to make more money but can often land the player into trouble.
There's nothing cooler than planting a bomb, turning the camera around, and walking away nonchalantly as it blows up behind you. As everyone knows, true heroes don't look at explosions.
A non-interactive sequence within a game most often used for plot advancement.
A destructible environment means the player has the ability to destroy his/her surroundings. This allows players to use the environment to their advantage.
A situation where the player must quickly escape from a building currently in the process of blowing up. Could either be a cinematic or actually gameplay.
In real life, vehicles rarely explode unless an actual explosive device is involved. Like, it almost never happens. In video games, on the other hand, cars will blow up real good with almost no encouragement.
A powerful release of energy. This energy is usually expelled in all directions very quickly, typically giving off orange or red flames.
We all know that explosions will get you to buy a game. This is why you want stuff blowing up on your game cover!
It's common in games, especially third-person shooters, for the player character's reloading animation to merely mime the motion of reloading, instead of actually doing so.
Receiving damage or dying as a result of falling.
A device used in many games with vast open worlds, to travel instantaneously from one place to another. It sometime appears in the form of an item or skill.
A grapple is a maneuver in which one character grabs an enemy and usually throws or damages the enemy. Most grapples occur in fighting games.
A cutscene (usually using the in-game engine) which allows the user to contribute to or modify the action- such as changing camera angle, zooming in and out, or being able to move the player character around actors playing a scripted sequence.
It's arguably the one move that symbolizes the medium to those outside it. The ability to jump, be it onto a building, a platform, or a skull, is one of the all time most important abilities ever put in a video game.
Mercenaries, Soldiers for Hire, have been found fighting in conflicts since the dawn of human warfare. These hired guns show a desire to turn their talent in the art of death to a more profitable profession.
Murder is the act of ending the life of another living thing against its will without the sanction of a higher governmental authority, such as the casualties that result from acts of war. It is generally intentional, at least in a legal meaning, but not necessarily.
Non-linear level design where the player is able to freely traverse the game world and choose where and when to visit certain areas in the game.
Any character you can control in a game is a Player Character (PC), as opposed to a non-player character (NPC), which is a character that can only be controlled by the game.
Psychopaths are noted for generally lacking a conscience, getting enjoyment from various forms of destruction, and an inability to learn from their mistakes.
How non-playable characters or factions perceive the player character based on their actions or choices in the game world.
Any person that is in an Army.
A gameplay mechanic which allows the player to move faster than the normal speed. Usually for a set amount of time.
Propelling oneself with kinetic usage of limbs while submerged in liquid (or otherwise fluid material).
The player character is seen at a distance from a number of different possible perspective angles. There is generally a movable camera but it can also be in a fixed position. It most commonly refers to a viewpoint behind the player character.
Games with vehicles that can be controlled. This applies to games that AREN'T focused on just driving, but just happen to have a vehicle segment or the ability to pilot one.
Voice Acting is the art of providing voices for characters in games, television shows, films, radio programs, and other forms of media.
War is a series of organized conflicts carried on by force of arms between two or more nations or groups. Whether it never changes or has already changed is up for debate.
