    Overview

    Following the buyout by Warner Bros., Matt Booty left Midway Games. Along with all employees at the executive level, he received a sixty day notification of this fact on July 16, 2009.

    Booty joined Microsoft Game Studios where he headed up mobile gaming initiatives for the Windows Phone 7 platform and took the lead heading Microsoft's Minecraft business.

    In January 2018, he was promoted to Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Studios.

    With a reorganization of Xbox's leadership in 2023, Booty became the Head of Xbox Game Studios.
