    Overview

    Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems is a Marvel-licensed Capcom brawler exclusive to the SNES. It is based on the Infinity Gauntlet saga of Marvel Comics, which concerns a universe-threatening attempt by the titan Thanos to conquer all existence with the immensely powerful Infinity Gems and all of Earth's superheroes (and many villains) teaming up to defeat him. The same arc was used as the basis for a number of Capcom's Marvel-based fighter games, such as Marvel Super Heroes.

    The game features the following Marvel superheroes as playable characters: Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. The setting of this game takes place both around the globe and outer space. Most of the game is based on the heroes finding the Infinity Gems. Once a hero finds a gem, he can equip it and the gem provides him a certain unique power. The final gem is obtained by defeating Thanos, which completes the game.
