    Overview

    Back in the 80's and 90's, it was a common trend to outsource Western IP's to Japanese developers. Many popular Western IP's at the time, from Disney and Marvel to Rambo and Ninja Turtles, were frequently outsourced to Japanese developers.

    The reverse, Japanese IPs outsourced to Western developers, was less common at the time (beyond British developers such as Ocean Software and Rare), but has become increasingly common since the late 2000s.
