So the bombcast seems to be having some trouble on deciding how to pronounce this game's title. But I really don't see how you can say it any other way than "Machine-arium. Is that just me? They seem to keep saying "Mack-ee-narium" but it doesn't even have the right letters to be said that way.

Anyone else in the Machine Arium boat? Or is this going to be one of those things where it starts off as a joke where they pronounce it wrong on purpose to piss people off, but then permanently say it like that forever (for instance: Naruto).

I pronounce it as mack-ee-narium as well. But I guess the correct way is machine-arium? I don't know. It just sounds weird that way.

Machine-arium makes the most sense as the game features robots and such.

Isn't it part of the English language that you have to change the hard consonant if the word continues? Or something like that.

@dbz1995: With that logic, the word 'rising' would be pronounced 'rizz-ing'.

I suggest you ask this thread to get locked and start a poll,  it would be a lot better to see the results in percentages.

    Anyhow, I say "Mack-ee-narium".

that supports the Mack-Ee-Nar-ium pronounciation, which i'm inkling more towards.

It could be Machine-Arium, but it doesn't have any ring to it. And considering where the developers are from, this probably wouldn't be their first choice of pronounciation.

I think Mack-Ee-Nar-Ium sounds way better. Whether it's correct or not, I have no idea, I just know that is how it would be pronounced if it has it's roots in Latin.

Assuming it's a Latin word it should be ma-kee-narium as Latin doesn't have a "ch" sound.

I can understand why people say it both ways. I say it "sh" as in machine or machinist. However, something like machinations use the hard "k" sound.

Machine arium.  It pisses me off how much time they're spending having trouble with this and that they aren't even fucking close to how I'd pronounce it.

@roofy: You don't understand.  I used an o instead of an a, because Deus ex machina is latin, and Latin pronounces a as 'ah'  like in mock and not like in mack

@Veektarius: actually i think its you that doesnt understand,
thats the pronunciation of Machina take from here

i pronounce it the same as you do.

and just because the creator of the game might say it one way doesnt mean thats HOW its supposed to be pronounced according to the laws of language.

That may be the English pronunciation, but English pronounces a lot of Latin words incorrectly.  Latin is unambiguous about the pronunciation of its vowels.  a as in law, e as in hey, i as in liter, o as in hope, u as in dupe (though it can sometimes act like w)

Its got machines in it. You should see the name, then see the robots, then know how to say it. Ryan's overthinking.

I've always pronounced it machine-arium, probably because I'm very used to pronouncing the word machinima. Listening to the Bombcast keeps making me want to pronounce it 'mack-e-narium' even if I don't think it's the correct pronunciation though.

    He's right

The correct pronunciation accoring to the English (and Latin) language is Mackinarium. If the developer says otherwise, they are wrong as well.
