If the player chooses to start the game as Valens, Ludo is a party member for a good portion of the game.
He begins as an extremely dedicated and loyal companion to Valens. However, Ludo is incredibly zealous in his admiration and love of Imperia, and this zeal is only outweighed by his distaste for other nations. When Valens welcomes Ursula into their school, he is indifferent. Later, when Urlan, and then later Eiji join he is even more bitter, and he and Valens steadily grow apart. Ludo eventually abandons his old friend for Mutuus' school.
He later squares off against his old friend, twice, and he is seen at Nephilia's side after the death of the Dark God.
