Landon Ricketts was once a famed hero of the West in the late 19th century. Children of the era knew the stories of his many adventures and gunfights. As the fame and gunslinging lifestyle in the West began to wear on Ricketts, he retired to the small Mexican town of Chuparosa. This is where
John Marston
will eventually meet up with the retired gunslinger. With his expertise, Ricketts teaches Marston how to fully utilize his Dead Eye skill. From the newspaper that can be purchased after the player takes control of Jack Marston, he finds out that Ricketts died peacefully in his sleep.
