Overview

Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor: 98-Shiki Kidou Seyo! ("Mobile Police Patlabor: Type-98, Move Out!") is a role-playing game developed and published by MA-BA Corp for the Japanese Sega Mega Drive with some possible assistance from Advance Communication Company. It is based on the Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor manga and anime TV show, set in a near-future Japan in which bipedal mech suits named "labors" exist for heavy duty construction and industrial work. A police division, named Patlabor (Patrol Labor) is established to combat labor-based crimes with their own specialized models. The anime series's own director Mamoru Oshii helped create the story for the game.
