Overview
Kerri Hoskins is a former Playboy model who is better known for her portrayal of Lieutenant Sonya Blade in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Kerri first appeared in Midway's NBA Jam Tournament Edition as a cheerleader that sat in the upper left corner of the court during the game. She was also an unlockable character like much of the development staff. In 1994, Midway called for Hoskins to play the lead villain in Revolution X. Hoskins took the role of Mistress Helga who had kidnapped Aerosmith. Later that year, Hoskins would debut in the role that would define her career. She joined the MK team in the development of Mortal Kombat 3 as Sonya Blade.
The following year, Hoskins starred in another Midway fighting game, the ill-received War Gods, where she played the role of Vallah. In 1997, Hoskins took another role in the MK universe as Kia, one of Quan Chi's personal assassins in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. With the release of Mortal Kombat 4 in 1997, the franchise moved away from digitized graphics in favor of 3D models. Sonya's 3D render was still based on Hoskins and she still lent her voice to the character.
Hoskins appeared several years later in the Kollector's/Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat: Deception in interview segments along with MK alums John Parrish and John Turk.
In 2014, Kerri returned to the world of video games by performing the motion capture for Maya in Season 2 of Killer Instinct developed by Iron Galaxy Studios in Chicago.
