    After leaving Midgar, Cloud tells the story of his past to the rest of the party in the form of a flashback. The party also learns of rumors of a man in black coat ( Sephiroth) passing through the Marshlands.
     
    This is the first time the player can purchase a new sword for Cloud (assuming they missed out on stealing the Hard Edge from a Soldier First Class in the Shinra Building).
