Overview

Jump Rope Challenge is a freeware motion-controlled fitness game developed by Nintendo EPD (Company) and released digitally by Nintendo (Company) for the Nintendo Switch (Platform) on June 15, 2020. Developed by a small group of Nintendo developers during stay-at-home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jump Rope Challenge is a simple exer-game where players perform a basic jump rope motion wielding a Joy-Con in both hands. Players are tasked with performing at least 100 jumps every day, and is tracked both on jumps made and the time it took to reach their chosen goal. The game displays a customizable anthropomorphic rabbit that is shown skipping along with the player's motion, and progressing past the chosen goal displays one of several daily backgrounds. The game supports local two-player multiplayer, with each player holding a Joy-Con in one hand (leaving the other hand bare). Later updates added the ability to perform double-under jumps, as well as additional costumes based on other Nintendo franchises, including numerous characters from Mario (Franchise) series, Link (Character) from The Legend of Zelda (Franchise), Samus from Metroid (Franchise), Isabelle (Character) from Animal Crossing (Franchise), both boy and girl Inklings from Splatoon (Franchise), and the Arcade Bunny (Character) from Nintendo Badge Arcade (Game).
