    Jean-Paul is a self absorbed robot who lives in Pascal's Village in Nier: Automata. He is the central point of the the sidequest "Jean-Paul's Melancholy."

    Jean-Paul is a machine life-form found in Pascal's Village in Nier: Automata. The side mission surrounding Jean-Paul sees the player bringing Jean-Paul a series of love notes from his various female fans. He regards this notes with disinterest instead spouting philosophy about existence at the player.

    Jean-Paul also ties largely into Simone's backstory as discovered when hacking Simone in her boss battle in Route 2. She fall's in love with Jean-Paul and ultimately ends up cannibalizing other machine life-forms in order to gain parts to try to impress him.

    Jean-Paul's name is a reference to the real life French philosopher of existentialism Jean-Paul Sartre and his relationship with Simone draws is a reference to Sartre's real relationship with fellow philosopher Simone De Beauvoir.
