    Overview

    Heavy Unit: Mega Drive Special is a modified version of Kaneko's shoot 'em up Heavy Unit, featuring slightly altered enemy placements and some graphical revisions. It was published by Toho, the creators of the Godzilla movies, and developed by Toho contractors Funari.

    The story involves the titular Heavy Unit, a powerful mech weapon that is launched into battle to defend the artificial star system "Le Tau" from an alien threat. The mecha is capable of switching from its bipedal form to a sleek space fighter, each form offering its own strengths and weaknesses.
