    Overview

    Havik in Mortal Kombat: Deception
    Havik in Mortal Kombat: Deception

Havik is a chaotic sorcerer in the Mortal Kombat series, introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception. Seeking chaos and anarchy throughout the realms, he allies himself with those he feels helps his cause, good or evil. He is introduced as a denizen of a chaotic realm known as the Chaosrealm, but was reworked in Mortal Kombat 1 to be a chaotic denizen of the orderly realm of Seido.

He is known throughout the series for his bizarre sorcery, which often has him dislocating, or even dismembering, his body and limbs to attack his opponents (which is afterwards reattached or regrown). In Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, his weapon is a morning star, and he fights with the martial arts of Tang Soo Do and shéquán ("Snake Fist") kung fu, despite his distate for orderly forms of fighting.

It is revealed through versus dialogue in Mortal Kombat 1 that the New Era incarnation of Havik has the true name of "Dairou". As such, it is unclear whether or not this incarnation is an amalgamation of both Havik and Dairou, or that he just shares the name, or that this timeline's Havik is instead an alternate version of Dairou.

    Story

    Original Timeline

In the original timeline, Havik is a denizen of the Chaosrealm, whose people seek to spread chaos and anarchy throughout the realms. Prior to the return of the Dragon King Onaga, he worked to undo the Outworld city of Lei Chen from the orderly rule of Hotaru. He also encounters the former Black Dragon member Kabal, and heals him after his confrontation with the Red Dragon member Mavado while convincing him to restore the Black Dragon as a force of chaos.

He then sets forth a plan to stop Onaga's orderly rule, leading the heroes to the Dragon King's whereabouts. He believed that by consuming Onaga's heart, he would have the ability to resurrect the dead. Despite Onaga's defeat, he did not get an opportunity to do so, and later died in the Battle of Armageddon alongside countless others.

    New Era Timeline

In the timeline forged by Liu Kang, Havik hails from the realm of Seido and works to take down the realm's oppressive regime and turn it into an anarchist utopia. Together with Darrius, he assists the sorcerer Quan Chi in his plans. During a confrontation with Scorpion, he has his face mutilated from a smelting pot.

With his plans ruined after Quan Chi's imprisonment, Havik eventually encountered the mage Rain, who was wanted for his role in General Shao's attempted coup. He gives Rain safe haven in return for using Rain's magic to annihilate Seido's capital in a gigantic tidal wave.

    Endings

    Mortal Kombat: Deception

After his defeat, the body of the Dragon King Onaga was left on the floor where it had fallen. Havik ripped his heart from his chest and ate it, absorbing the King's power to reanimate the dead. Seeking to return the realm of Outworld to the chaos that once ruled over it, Havik planned to revive Shao Kahn and return the realm to his rule.

    Mortal Kombat: Armageddon

With the power of Blaze, Havik became chaos incarnate and rearranged the realms into a form that bore no resemblance whatsoever to their previous state. In doing so, he achieved his goal of ultimate chaos.
