Some games just weren't meant to be.
A game in which the object is for each team to retrieve the opponent's flag and return it to their own base. Typically used in multiplayer first-person shooter games.
Jacking is the act of taking control of a vehicle that is not under the player's rightful or original possession, and may or may not have been taken out of another player's or NPC's possession.
Whether it's a hero's turn to the dark side or a villain becoming a hero, it's usually unexpected and will bring a whole new moral dimension to the story. Sometimes, they change they sides more than once.
Sometimes, rather than building a character model from scratch, a developer will sometimes use a real person as a template and use his or her physical attributes to create a similar character model to be used in their video game. In some cases that real reason will appear as themselves in games.
Charging is the action of pressing & holding down a button or particular direction on the controller. Its purpose is to build up a powerful blast or burst of energy to take out an opponent or cause critical damage.
A point within the game whereby the game saves its current state whether it be for the purpose of a more convenient respawn point or a gameplay design (such as in racing).
A character who is destined to save or destroy the world. Often seen in RPGs.

Cloaking is to become invisible or become close to invisible depending on strength of the ability or item.
CQC and CQB are close range combat techniques.
Game mechanic that allows a player to respawn as long as at least one teammate is alive.
Collectibles are items such as coins, rings, gems, packages etc. that can be gathered, usually for some kind of reward, or sometimes to simply beat a level. Often (almost too often) the source of earning achievements and trophies on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Collective consciousness is best defined as a group or race of beings possessing no minds of their own, but act and are controlled in service of a greater overall purpose, much like ants. They make great villains!

Video game controversy revolves mostly around the psychological effects that games with graphic violence or sexual content in them can have on players. Other sources of controversy can range from racism, sexism, politics, or religion.
Cooperative play in games allows humans to play together as a team to accomplish a task. Instead of playing against a human opponent, the team must defeat an AI. Cooperative Play in some games also means 2 human versus 2 human, this occurs in some Billiards games. (Scotch Doubles / Doubles)
The ultimate pressure feature. Players have to complete the task at hand, be it defeating opponents or cutting the right wire, in the allotted time.
An on-screen countdown timer (typically measured in seconds) that begins once the game has been fully configured and triggered to start. This is distinct from a loading screen, which may occur before and/or after the countdown.
Elites, also known as Sangheili are a Covenant race in the Halo series. During Halo: Combat Evolved and the bulk of Halo 2 they are the primary antagonists. They became semi allied with the humans in Halo 3, and are in a political crisis during Halo 4, some still at war with Humanity.
