Rumor: 343 Industries Remaking Halo: CE On The Reach Engine
This rumor is brought to us by the latest issue of Games Master magazine, which cites "industry chatter" as its source (via CVG). No other details were apparently provided.
== TEASER ==One big problem with this rumor, as Eurogamer points out, is that Microsoft Games Studios executive Phil Spencer doesn't seem too keen on HD rereleases. In an interview with IGN from earlier this October, Spencer said that the "thought of re-doing a bunch of things is probably difficult to just weave into the overall portfolio."
He added that while he doesn't spend much time thinking about this subject, "there could be possibilities" for remakes from MGS in the future if customers see some sort of value in the idea. Ironically, it seems like IGN asked Spencer for his take on this subject by offering Halo: CE and Halo 2 as examples of hypothetical HD rereleases.

" Meh. Pointless. That engine isn't particularly great. Not for remaking at least. "This.
It's not like it's begging for a remake either. It would still play the same essentially. There's no real benefit to it being remade.
I hope this is BS. I want to see 343 Industries take halo in a new direction instead if just sqeezing out another game in the bungie style.
not that the bungie games are bad or anything but with a new team incharge of halo I want new ideas.
start from scratch (gameplay wize) instead of just building of what bungie did.
Wait, so does this just mean upping the pixelcount or whatever, or would they straight up recreate Halo, but now with Reach's graphics? That might be cool. I dunno how much the graphics have aged, it's been years since I played it (which probably answers my question).
Halo CE is in my opinion, the greatest console shooter of all time. I sunk days upon days playing it online with hideous lag through Gamespy & XBC. The game was incredible regardless of not being able to shoot anything.
I actually like the Halo CE engine the most in the series. It's the only Halo where I can cover the walls and ceiling of a room with purple blood in one massive grenade chain reaction.
I'm buying it. I've been inching closer and closer to the games on demand version, but with this announcement I will happily wait until late 2011.
There's a perfectly good reason:" @MysteriousBob said:

Nice detective work there!
ohh wait...
I'll admit, it took about 6 hours longer then what I thought it would take.
Anyways...to put my 2 cents in...I think it's total bogus as I think MS would want to advance the story not re-tell it. Unless it's a side project and Halo CE is only getting an HD version a-la God of War Collection.
I want this,
Unfortunately for everyone of the internet royalty who look down on the halo franchise as some plebeian wretch stealing glory from those they deem it's better, Halo is a great game and will hopefully get this done. If not in the next couple years then down the line.
IF this rumour is true, then I have nothing against them remaking it. It couldn't take up that much effort - they're just making it HD, it's not like they're rebuilding the entire game from scratch. Like how they made Perfect Dark into a HD game, they could just remake some textures to boost the resolution. It's not easy, but it's also not the most difficult thing in the world to do, well, for a studio that is.
Sure, if they want to do it, let em. It's not going to cause much of a problem for anyone who doesn't want to buy it, and it will please fans that do want to buy it. It's not exactly as if this will take up serious resources and time to accomplish.
I am all for this. Many friends were ps2 people back in the day. They missed out on halo: ce and 2 and had expressed intrest in playing them when reach came out. But since we live far appart a remake with modern xbla support for coop would be great. And the fact that game is 10 years old freaks me out a bit... getting old :(
SQEE that would be awesome, fuck all you naysayers there are people that actually like Halo because its fuckin Halo I cant wait for it to take the next step BUT its not like there are 50 halo games theres 50 billion Mario, Zelda, Metroid games but no one seems to complain because they are GOOD GAMES like....halo...hmm
