Gunman Chronicles is a sci-fi themed first-person shooter from Rewolf Software. The game pits the player, Major Archer, against his vengeful commanding officer, The General.
Gunman chronicles began its life as a mod for Quake. As it progressed, it moved from the Quake engine to the Quake II engine, and eventually on to the GoldSrc (Half-Life) engine. Sierra (Half-Life's publisher) took note of the mod and gave it a full release in 2000.
The gameplay of gunman chronicles is similar to Half-Life. The game includes a drivable tank that is available during certain level sections. The game also features many weapons that can be customized to various degrees.
The first weapon in the game; it can do some damage, open some passages, and allow players to attack at short range. However, this weapon isn't recommended as many enemies are dangerous at point blank range.
This weapon features an alternate mode which consists to use our fists, the fists are faster than the knife but does less damage
This is the first ranged weapon in the game, it uses cells as ammunition. It can shoot four kind of projectiles (the last is acquired through the sniper upgrade). The beam mode is effective against fast moving targets, and the plasma balls are more effective against slow moving targets.
The weapon by default features 3 alternate modes
When upgraded it has a fourth mode:
The sniper mode is the most powerful mode; players can line up enemies and kill them with a single shot, however it uses 20 ammo when fully charged.
The shotgun features several different spread patterns. As well as this, it can shoot between 1 and 4 shotgun shells at a time; however, the more shells the gun shoots at once, the slower the weapon can fire.
The weapon features 3 kind of spread pattern:
The Mecha Gun is a machine gun that contains two modes. This weapon can do massive damage in a few seconds; however, it can overheat. This can be used to the players advantage though; when the weapon starts heating up, the gun fires faster and does more damage.
This weapon has two barrels that can rotate; the rotation allows the weapon to fire faster, but the weapon also heats up faster.
The weapon can be upgraded with a cooling upgrade; this adds ventilation to the barrels to reduce the chances of overheating.
It can fire continuous lightning bolts at various ranges and voltages. The weapon can overheat, but unlike the mecha gun, it can damage the player.
The power can be set to high, medium, or low. When it is high, the weapon can heat up faster and the accuracy decreases.
The range can be set from taser to long-range, this also affects the ammo consumption and the heat generated. The different ranges are as follows:
There are also three different firing types:
The chemical gun can launch projectiles that can explode upon impact, stick against walls, and bounce. The gun has four settings, each of which can be adjusted to the player's liking.
Mechanical enemies are weaker to basic chemicals, while organic enemies are weak to acid. The neutral component is used to stabalize the ammunition.
Pressure affects the distance that projectiles travel. A lot of pressure reduces the rate of fire and generates more recoil.
The Mule is a rocket launcher, it can fire one or two rockets at once. The weapon can be used to set traps, launch laser guided missiles, launch heat seeking missiles, and launch grenades. The weapon allows for two rockets to be loaded and six to be stored.

The grenades are rocket core warheads, they can be used as grenades or mines. The weapon can be used to shot around corners when using the timed fuse mode. The laser trigger allows players to use the grenade as a laser triggered mine, players need to be close to a wall to be able to set up the mine.

Players can control a tank, that has several functions. It has a mortar, a rocket and two machine guns.
