Ghostbusters 360 To Be Region-Free
Weird. But at least Atari's still letting Europeans play the Xbox 360 version despite no longer having a presence in the region.
Yeah a new game over here (UK) can be about $80 depending on where you go, but I've got a PS3 so I won't have to inport a copy, which is nice. Does suck for 360 owners though, especially with the game getting pretty much universal good reviews.
PRO TIP: Just remember when you are playing this game and somebody asks if you're a god, you say "YES!"
A new game here in Denmark cost around the equivalent to 90 usd. Of course minimal wages here are seldom below 16 usd equivalent, but we also have high taxation and 25% value added tax.
Importing from the states is a great and cheaper alternative...BUT If the package is intercepted by the customs the total price could well end up around the equivalent of 120 usd. So it is a gamble.
The game on 360 is £30 ($50) on playasia thats actually cheaper than getting it on ps3 in the uk, playasia cant sell ps3 games to europe becuase sony threated to sue them no problem for 360 users though
Although its worth adding the averge review score right now is 75% so i may not bother
Dumb news. For those of us actually living in Europe(I live in Norway) and import stuff from the states early, know that about 70% of the games with NTSC coding in the US are region free to Europe. There are really just som few exceptions like GTA IV (only one I could think of right now) that dosent work on a European console. Anyone in doubt use the PlayAsia.com list of region free games..
...ignorant Americans...
Yeah, game prices here in Australia are a disgrace.
Brand new, this will cost at the very least AU$110.
Holy crap! This is great :) Maybe more games that aren't going to be exported can be done this way? I'm all for it :)
Brand new games in England cost between £30 and £35 which is about $55 so I've got no complaints. For anyone who is savvy enough to buy games from amazon rather than the rip off merchants like game at £40 which is still on par for American prices. To be honest though I think this game will destroy any love I have for ghostbusters so I probably wont be buying it.
It normally works out the same price due to shipping costs a lot of the time, but its great that I get to play it. For those of you interested a newly released game is $120AUD which at the moment is around $97.3 USD. How much is a new release game in the states normally? I'm guessing around $80 USD, which sucks pretty bad for us Australians =/
Can some explain how playing a NTSC game on a PAL 360 works? I was always under the impression that the whole NTSC/PAL video thing was a technically limiting factor because one format couldn't display properly on a TV of the other format. But I'd be happy to learn otherwise because I'm a displaced Arizonan living in Denmark and I'd really like to buy a baseball game!
I often import my games from a Canadian online store, since their postage for a game to Finland is about the same as within Europe. They also don't mark the true value of content on the parcel, so no added taxes. It also helps that the games are cheap as hell compared to what they are here, so I can confirm that you can save money when importing. One thing I've noticed though is that games come down in price in the UK much faster than in the US, from what I've seen on sites like Amazon anyways.
I really don't get why this weird Idea that Games cost loads in the UK came about.
Games are cheap in the UK depending on who you purchase from. Play website are very cheap and Gameplay.
When in comes to "true" PAL vs NTSC, PAL has more lines than NTSC. Therefor it's easy for PAL TVs to support NTSC but not the other way around. Then there's that 50Hz vs 60Hz issue.
I can confirm this, it works perfectly on a PAL (check my achievements) system. The game is somewhat decent, it looks nice and gives me a warm, fuzzy bustan feeling.
