    Best with coop. 0

*This review is from June 29, 2008.*I played half of Act I when it came on the PC so I had a basic understanding of the game. My buddy did beat it on the PC a couple months ago so at least I had a guide. He hosted and went with hardcore. I could rant all night about the team AI but I will just say it needs to be fixed and really annoyed us during our playing. When you had to split up and take a AI with you, well, they are 100% worthless so it made those bits tougher then it should. Then you add ...

Dumb story aside, Gears offers highly intense gameplay 0

Pros:-Great graphics-Excellent cover based mechanics-Multiplayer is solid and has lot's of features-Weapons are fun to use and feel great to shoot-Campaign is solid and of decent length-Co-op is excellent-AI is intelligent and challengingCons:-Weak storyline and charactersGears of War may not have an impressive or engaging storyline, it may not be a game that you come away with thought provoking ideas, however what it does do is it put's a smile on your face by simply being such a joy to play! Game Changer 0

This game honestly changed the way I viewed video games. I love this game because it was honestly ahead of its time. The story line was amazing and the graphics were great. I have played through the campaign over and over again and never get tired of it. I think any person who considers themselves a gamer should play this game....

The 360 Title Brings All The Blood To The PC 0

Gears of War was released in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and became an instant hit with gamers and critics and can be considered the Xbox equivalent to resident Evil 4 for GameCube, and PS2. Gears starts out with Marcus Fenix in his prison cell, imprisoned for disobeying orders and attempting to save his dad's life. He failed and was sentenced to forty years, but the sentence was cut short as the prison was emptied and the inmates were all recruited to join the C.O.G. army to fight against the Locust ...

It's simple, but it's executed so well it's still really fun.. 2

Gears of War is one of those games that relies entirely on pure, unadulterated fun. This fact becomes blatantly obvious when you see that one of the guns has a chainsaw stuck to the end, however, its not exactly lacking in problems either. Besides the longest install time I have ever had to endure, the game is also riddled with bugs and the word “performance” becomes a relative term, in the sense that having it not constantly freeze up and jerk around would be classed as “good” performance. That...

Worthwhile shooter, but not a revelation on PC as it was on 360. 0

Gears of War is the one game that nearly tipped me into buying a 360. Here was a visceral, beautiful, action-packed shooter getting tons of buzz from gamers and press. I could barely keep myself from plunking down the $350 just so I could get a taste of this first-hand. Alas, the infatuation faded. I couldn't seriously justify buying a console for one title, so I put it to the back of my mind. Fortunately, Epic threw PC gamers a bone in late 2007 by announcing a PC port, alongside their other hu...

A spectacular, intense and wild campaign 1

One of the best titles of the last year arrives finally to PC in a superb form. Exceptional optimization, fantastic controls and abundant unpublished contents. Gears of War is an authentic graphical beast that would be a sin to lose it. What Gears of War supposed for Xbox 360 the last year was a phenomenon difficult to predict. Its proclamation like one of the great ones of 2006, its stunning graphical - still without surpassing a year later -, and the sold of million copies, put  the last title...

    Gears of War 0

Gears of War (PC) Review As one of the first games set for release on the XBOX 360, Gears of War certainly set the standards for the next-gen consoles and gave the industry a solid foundation on which to develop. The game certainly doesn’t push any boundaries, but that may not come as a surprise to those who have witnessed the release of previous consoles. What Gears of War does is take the 3 person shooter format and bring it forward to a next-gen console; doing so with style and vigour. By pl...

Console Sweetness in PC Form 0

Every console generation has a handful of games that will be remembered for years to come as the standard bearers of their era.  Gears of War will very likely go down in history as one of those games from this current console generation.  Epic designed the title from the ground up with the XBOX 360 in mind and the game plays phenomenally on the system.  Of course it was only a matter of time before Microsoft decided to bring their new franchise to the PC.At the time the game came out on PC I was...

A Maldroit Port Yet Still As Commendable As Ever 0

Gears of War on the PC is one of the most maladroit computer ports I've encountered since Halo 2. While that doesn't mean it is bad, I think Epic Games should of done a whole lot more for their former target audience of Unreal fans when you put a number of things into consideration. Primarily, Epic Games didn't even handle the conversion. It was left in the hands of Polish developers People Can Fly who previously had some success with their cult classic, Painkiller. It wasn't professional...

Insanely overrated. Great presentation with meh gameplay 0

"Gears of War" arrived on the PC in 2007 after making quite a splash on the Xbox 360. In addition to widespread critical acclaim and numerous Game of the Year awards, the game also enjoyed huge sales numbers as one of the most popular games of 2006. After playing the it, I don't quite understand why. This is one of those games whose popularity has got me completely baffled. When I first played it, I was shocked by how mediocre it is. It's a fantastic-looking game and an impressive showcase for t...

GEARS OF WAR ULTIMATE EDITION falls short of being something extra special 0

Gears of war Ultimate Edition is a prettied up version of the first game in the Gears of War series. You are once again resuming the roll of Marcus Fenix. After getting a surprise release from prison, you wouldn't think anything could ruin your day. Unfortunetely the locust horde is waiting to give you a proper death sentence. If you have played this before, you will notice very little changes. The most notable is that the graphics have been polished up to bring it up to the modern era. It isn't ...
