The Galactic Empire was the galactic government established by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in the Star Wars Universe.

The Galactic Empire was the name for the government of emperor Palpatine following the <span>Jedi</span> purge. It ended the Galactic Republic which had run on for 25,000 years. It also brought the Sith into power and exterminated most of the Jedi Order. The Galactic Empire ruled with an iron fist, and was most commonly associated with it's crushing military might. The icons of this reign of terror were the masked Darth Vader (Character), and white-armored Stormtroopers. They were opposed by the Rebel Alliance (Concept).
