Just a quick post for the people who aren't subscribed, on the Happy Hour super awesome business man Mr Mike Tatum confirmed a Whiskey Media Book site is happening this yearand possibly even a music site.
Personally I'm super excited about the prospect of a book site and a music site. Dibs on the Jack White page.
This is great news, Whiskey media is really becoming a Jack of all trades. I love everything they have put out besides Anime vice only because I'm not into anime since it's for jerks.
@blacklabeldomm: They weren't very specific, they just said "A WM site about book's is happening this year". They mentioned quickly about a database to deal with the complicated nature of that but again didn't go into detail.
The book site will be pretty cool, I doubt I will be that active in it. I've cut back on personal reading quite a lot since most of my reading now is college text books.
I fully support this and am excited to see how it will work. I am curious to see how they will get video content for books and if they will bother doing reviews given the volume of novels released yearly.

Given that it has to fit with the demographic of the other sites and they will not want to hire - initially at least - more than a couple of new editors - I would bet on sci-fi and fantasy. Thriller/mainstream would also be cool but not such a good fit.
Either way they will have to specialise as you would need a huge staff just to cover the bestseller fiction that gets released every week.

Considering how up in arms people get about what music other listen to here, it's going to be horrible. And I'd hate to be the mod that has to clear up all the pages people will make for their shitty garage band that won't go anywhere.
I don't know how a book site would work; granted everyone reads and there are millions of books on pretty much everything but reading / book's don't engender the same kind of fanaticism that music / games / comics and even films do and don't have the immediacy of news that a tech website like tested would have - everyone has favourite books and authors but i dont think many people would consider themselves 'fans' - unless you get into that harry potter / twilight area where you have crazy fanatics; it'll be interesting to see what they launch, and i'd like to contribute to it, i think it could be a good idea
the music site sounds more convincing and i can't wait to see if they do something like that
in any case its good to see WM expanding, and with the newfound love of digital books / reading, which i actually don't like personally, it means there could be a large market for people to seek new books and recommendations online rather than bookstores

Tested doesn't have a wiki part. These sites don't need to have wiki parts to be part of the whiskey family, unless they mentioned they will be wiki sites....then good luck with that
@Dany: Tested is getting a wiki pretty soon and yeah they did hint at those sites possibly having a wiki. Although you're right, I have no idea how that would work.

My question for the WM book site is what they are going to do for video features? All of the other sites have them and to me they are the biggest reason for going here.
I like the book idea, I probably don't read as much as I want to and that's probably partly because I don't have a good book site, unlike games and films, in order to find recommendations. The only problem probably being the shear scope of the amount of books out there will probably make filling up a database and covering the subject a little more tricky, it'll be interesting to see what is done with the idea.
A music site would be a piece of cake for WM, everybody listen to music after all. Will be fine as long as the forums have a "punish on sight" plan for the inevitable "your fave band sucks" type posters.
Book club videos have potential for hilarity, or at least good thoughtful calm collective cool content.
