Spain went into the FIFA Confederations Cup  semi-final with a 35 game unbeaten streak (tied with Brazil's world record). USA snuck in and was counted out from the get go. The last time Spain lost to a non-europen team? 1999. Make that 2009.

USA beats #1 ranked Spain 2-0. Crazy game. This is America's first trip to the Confederation Cup Finals. Any soccer fans on this site going to watch?

No idea. He was playing the ball and they just gave him the card.

Anyway, let me post some quotes from FIFA.com users before the match:

Well..i dont see even with luck USA win this game (its seams that mostly all comments are based on this), my opinion Spain wins at least with 4 goals and with luck USA 1 goal.

This is just going to be a walk on the park for Spain. Xavi would just be passing the ball as he pleases. I believe he is the world's best ball passer of this generation

I can't see anything else other than a reasonably easy 3-0 victory to Spain. The USA simply haven't got enough to trouble the Spaniards.

USA can't win . This is the reality.

    Good stuff.

I'll watch it and I'll be rooting for USA! It is pretty crazy how great America is doing. I was shocked when they beat Egypt 3-0.

Im Canadian, but have a European (Portuguese) background. All my band members are European (Greeks/Cypriots)- and we don't pay attention to Soccer much, but you hear enough to know that everyone always says  the U.S has nothing. But fuck, the pre-defeated just defeated the un-defeatable. Thats nuts, which is kind of why people love these games so much.

Although Spain must feel like "what the fuck just happned?"

Although I felt the same when Greece beat Portugal.

Sometimes in sports, you just get whupped bad.

I was rooting for both teams, but I'm glad USA won. Hopefully we can keep it up!
