    Overview

The Commodore 64 Games System was one of Commodore's attempts at repackaging their ailing 8-bit computer line to make a few quick extra bucks. In this case, it was a C64 stripped down without a keyboard or any of the computer-esque options that made the initial C64 popular as more than just a game console. However, in their (and Ocean Software's) zeal to get the console on the market, they neglected to realize that its intended pack-in game, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, was impossible to start without pressing the "Enter" key on the very keyboard that had been part of Commodore's game plan to excise for budget costs. Thus, they quickly put together four previously released titles as a pack-in to release in its place.

The Terminator 2 cartridge that was produced for the C64 GS was in turn, packed in with standard Commodore 64s, which massively boosted the sales of the original system. The 4 game cartridge was later bundled with the C64 GS' Annihilator joystick as well, but between the cartridge situation and Commodore's cheapness, the C64 GS sold only about 2000 units, making it the worst-selling console of all time.
