Okay, it seems almost every game I have played in the last month has done this. You walk into an elevator there is a door on the other side. Now you have to stand in the middle guessing which one will open while praying you won't be facing the wrong one if an enemy is awaiting your presence. The logical conclusion would be to make one of the doors light up or something that tells you which one will open. Does this bother anyone else?
Things I hate about elevators in games.
This used to be a huge problem with PC FPS games back in the day for me. I also remember getting crushed by an elevator or two accidentally.
As for hiding loading times, I don't see a problem. Sure, if the loading times are long then it is a problem, but that has nothing to do with the fact that they are hidden in an elevator sequence and would be annoying regardless of how the loads were presented. Who cares? It's a way to hide the loading and keep immersion. I'd rather have that over old fashioned loading screens that take you out of the experience any day.
