Dungeon Maker is a tower defense game with RPG & rogue-lite elements that sees players building up a dungeon and recruiting monsters to protect their dungeon lord from armies of heroes.
Users start with a limited amount of dungeon lords to choose from, each with their own unique abilities and passive skills, with more to be unlocked through subsequent playthroughs. The player is given a small, mostly empty dungeon with some low-level, low-rank monsters at the start of the game, and must improve their dungeon by filling the dungeon with battle arenas and trap rooms, as well as leveling up and recruiting monsters. This is accomplished by selecting one of three action cards on a "board", typically involving fighting waves of enemies with a reward after completion. There are also other cards that will give the player unique options, such as Merchant cards for purchasing more monsters/rooms and fusing monsters into more powerful ones, and Dungeon cards, which allow the player to recover life or read books which give varying boosts, for example.
Each card selected counts for one day in the dungeon, and every 20 days a boss horde will appear, which typically features more powerful enemies and a set of buffs and/or debuffs which can make these more difficult. When the player is defeated, they are given experience points based on their score for that run, leveling up their dungeon lord and building up currency that can be used to unlock everything from more monsters, traps, and lords to more permanent upgrades like expansion of the dungeon or the ability to keep monsters/rooms from previous runs.
While players can purchase card packs via microtransactions, all in-game content can be unlocked without purchasing these packs.
