Not a whole lot of info other than confirming its in development using Frostbite 2, but the title gives us an idea of what we can expect the story to be about.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Game » consists of 27 releases. Released Nov 18, 2014
Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third installment in the Dragon Age series of role-playing games developed by BioWare.
Dragon Age 3: Inquisition announced
Excited about this. Fuck the haters. Gonna be annoying as hell for all the Bioware trolls to come out of the woodwork again though.
I want to be a dragon.
I don't. I don't want anything to do with this series ever again after the travesty that was DAII.
@kishinfoulux: Well Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 are the worst games in their catalogue and those are their two most recent releases so they have a lot to prove to fans.
Personally I'm looking forward to this in a cautious way. I hope they take the criticism to heart and not produce another lazy sequel to the great Dragon Age Origins.
Frostbite Engine..! I _really_ like that EA is training every one of their studios with a single engine, especially one with that amount of power to it. The core talent at BioWare is in the writing and art design, not the technical stuff. Having outsource guys who can float between DICE, Criterion, BioWare, Visceral and get everything ratcheted up.
The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
Duh.
We won't be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
Double duh, considering the sub-plot of Dragon Age and the plot of Dragon Age 2.
And I sure hope the Frostbyte 2 engine is good with isometric strategy, or I'll double down on Obsidian's ventures.
"With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral"
Sounds like a good sign. If they really take this to heart, there's hope for this franchise yet.
Man, I really like the level of tone that announcement has. That may be the most forthcoming, personal announcement I've ever read. There wasn't a bit of "Totally killer new game WAOW!" stuff, it was just an adult telling you about a thing he's doing. More of that, please. If there are any secret EA plants on this forum, do more announcements like that, I appreciate an announcement that respects my intelligence.
@Crixaliz: They will do a multiplayer mode. ME3 multiplayer was successful with it's micro transactions and map packs and EA has gone on record numerous times that no game from them will ever ship without a multiplayer component.
I didn't care for Dragon Age II but I'm optimistic for Dragon Age III. I hope it turns out well but we all know them BioWare fans will shit all over anything these days.
I'm hoping that the combat feels similar to DAII on consoles, but has more features on PC. I really enjoyed playing Dragon Age II on 360, but didn't like it so much on PC. For example, on PC, the inability to pan the camera around free of being locked to a character was a huge bummer. Here's hoping the longer development time results in a game that doesn't abuse assets the way DAII did.
I hope the look earlier in the year at doing follower customisation in a way that each looked unique but could still be customised is a sign that the developers are going about things in a smart way and not completely dismissing the good things Dragon Age II managed to do (in spite of the fact that for a significant portion of their fanbase DAII didn't do a single good thing :P )
@Phatmac: I thought it was ok but I bought it for $10 new... If I would have spent $60 on it I would have been pissed.

There has to be someone out there that actually didn't think Dragon Age 2 was that bad right? Ugh. Looks like I'll be defending it forever.
I also think it was not that bad.
Admittedly the discourse is such that thinking it mediocre is still better than what most people do.
I don't know if you people remember a little game called Dragon Age: Origins (and how good it was), and the cluster fuck that followed called Dragon Age 2. But I guess so long as BioWare is the developer you'll throw money at their games, they could release a fucking pong game and still make millions. Whatever, I'm not buying it the rest of you have fun.
Isn't this the one Bioware was talking about looking to Skyrim for inspiration for? I guess rats good news or bad news depending on who you are.
I've lost a ton of faith in Bioware since Mass Effect 2, so im going to more than likely skip on this one. I really don't think they can pull off amazing games like they used to, and that kind of breaks my heart.

Loved origins and hated 2.
Hope they go back to their roots, but it probably won't. The demand for an old style CRPG is probably pretty low nowadays.
DA:O was not an old style CRPG though? I can't play those old school games because I fucking hate the combat but I could at least play DA:O without being irritated about it.

Dragon Age died with 2, why would they defile the corpse further.
Necrophilia has been a trend in the industry for a while now bro! First they kill the good games then they fuck their corpses on a 2-year basis.

I'm right there with you. In many ways, I actually like 2 more than the first.
....I will say nothing... Except that.
3 years of development time? I'm already sensing a massive improvement over Dragon Age 2.
1 year of development vs. 3 years of development. Hmm.

Am I the only one that looked at the ending to Witch Hunt as a hint to what may happen in Dragon Age 3?
considering merril has one of those mirrors in DA2 i expect it to play a role. plus i think they were teasing dlemith making a move in 2 as well.
count me among hose that like DA2, great combat and story

Hi! I liked it, mostly. I thought some of the characters were great (enough to redeem the ones who weren't), the overall story was just fine up until the ending, and the combat good in a way slightly different than the original game (although you can stick the enemies which come in waves and spawn in plain sight up your arse... that was just the worst). It's a deeply flawed game which might have been better served as an Origins mega add-on without the connotations that come with naming it "Dragon Age 2." That all might sound super negative, but I really did enjoy the game... up until the end. Enough that I'll defend it from comments like this:

Sure, Dragon Age 2 is nothing compared to Origins, but it's not a *bad* game, and a lot of its troubles can be attributed to the EA sequel rush. If they're given enough time with Dragon Age 3 and it isn't a stupid action third-person shooter like I immediately think of when I hear "Frostbyte 2 engine," then I think it could turn out fine.

Not to mention the Dalish Origin story.
If Hamburger Helper is writing it, I'm avoiding it like the plague. Actually, I was going to anyway, Bioware really lost their shit.
Honestly, I don't care.
Dragon Age II was a betrayal, and with the direction that BioWare is heading in these days, I'm not excited for this in the least.
I hope I'm wrong, I hope this game can redeem the series, not to mention redeem BioWare somewhat in my eyes. But for now, whatever.

I also didn't think it was bad. It just doesn't think it can top what Origins did.
Right. DA2 isn't a horrible game. It's just massively disappointing compared to Origins. I hope this game gets the series back on track.
If DA2 was callled Dragon Age: Legend of Hawke, was 30$ and market as a new adventure in the Dragon Age universe, it would of been fine. But with a short dev cycle and Marketed as the follow up to origins it could not win.
i cant defend the ending thought , that was a shitshow and worse than ME3 ending by far
