Don Paolo impersonates Inspector Chelmey in Professor Layton and the Curious Village to hinder Professor Layton and Luke's progress in finding the Golden Apple long enough for him to find it himself. At the end of the game he chases Professor Layton in a large flying machine with wrecking balls. In Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box he kidnaps Flora in the town of Dropstone and impersonates her, despite the obvious size difference. He is using Professor Layton and Luke in order to find the secret of the Elysian Box. He is not found out until much later in the game but manages to escape the clutches of the Professor and Inspector Chelmey.
