Overview

Devil Hunter Yohko, or Mamono Hunter Yohko, is a series of OVAs that aired from 1990 to 1995 and is perhaps best known in the west as the first anime that localizers ADV Films ever translated and released in English. It features the titular heroine Yohko Mano (or Yoko, or Youko), the 108th Devil Hunter in a long line of warriors, who is forced to balance her academic and romantic problems with her "job" as the protector of mankind. The anime saw three video game adaptations, all from Masaya: Mamono Hunter Yohko: Dai-7 no Keishou, a Sega Mega Drive platformer; Mamono Hunter Yohko: Makai kara no Tenkousei, an adventure game for PC Engine CD; and Mamono Hunter Yohko: Tooki Yobigoe, another adventure game also for PC Engine CD.
