Deep Down
GAME »
A medieval fantasy game for PlayStation 4 from Capcom, using the new Panta Rhei engine.

Overview

Deep Down was going to be a PlayStation 4 (Platform) game from Capcom (Company). It was announced as a game would be a free-to-play online title, though it is not yet clear what optional items for payment would be available or how the payment structure would work. Though presented as a fantasy RPG, early trailers also indicated that there was some manner of time-travel involved. The core gameplay saw players exploring the depths of caverns as medieval warriors, and includes combat against large, fire-breathing dragons. Yoshinori Ono (Person) was asked in 2019 about the prolonged delays of the game and he stated that he had not given up on the game. In 2020, the trademark lapsed and Ono left Capcom. The game is now considered vaporware.

Gameplay

Early trailers hinted at the following elements:

  • Gameplay took place in both third and first person, the former perhaps only in battle.
  • The only visible HUD was a weapon wheel in the lower left corner.
  • To avoid dragon fire, players could hide behind columns.
  • There was a run/sprint mechanic.
  • Shields could melt.
