Overview

Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force, stylized as Cyber Troopers Virtual-On 4 or Cyber Troopers Virtual-On "Force" and also known in Japan as Den'nou Senki Virtual-On Force, is a sci-fi third-person mecha combat game developed by Hitmaker (Company) and released by Sega (Company) for arcades (using their Hikaru hardware) in October 2001.

The third game in the Cyber Troopers Virtual-On series and its final arcade installment, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force is best known for introducing four-player combat (hence the "4" in its logo) in a two-on-two scenario, with some of its controls and pacing revamped for multiple opponents. This concept was later expanded on in its console sequel, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Marz.

Along with a pair of deluxe twin-linked cabinets for four-players, the game also features a magnetic card system for recording player data and customizing the player's Virtuaroid, which used a separate terminal cabinet (known as the "VO4 Terminal"). It is one of the last games to use the short-lived Hikaru hardware.

While the game did not receive a home conversion at the time, it has received a Japan-exclusive (yet region-free) port for the Xbox 360 (Platform) on December 22, 2010. It features both split-screen and online multiplayer support, a new system for customizing Virtuaroids, multiple soundtracks, and pre-order DLC (including an item to adjust the bust size of female Virtuaroids). Released to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary, this port also received a collector's edition featuring a booklet and six-disc soundtrack. It received a Platinum Collection re-release on April 26, 2012 and a digital release on May 1, 2012.

The game was later included in the 2019 Japan-exclusive PlayStation 4 (Platform) compilation Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Masterpiece 1995-2001.
