2018 was an interesting year for games as always. There weren’t as many big releases this year, but the ones that did come out were probably some of the most highly anticipated games of recent years. Red Dead Redemption 2, maybe the most anticipated game since Red Dead Redemption 1 was released all the way back in 2010 (the fact that RDR 1 is 8 years old is baffling to me), finally made its way...

I am back once more And with a sad attempt at trying to write more in the year 2019, I have finally decided, whether people get it or don't, to write about the games I have been sucked into for the past two years. We're here to talk about the current goings on in all the gacha I play, any upcoming news that makes it my way about these games, and talk about future releases of these types of game...

[This is the seventh entry in a countdown of the best Ridge Racer games. I recommend you read the introduction before reading this; it includes a brief history of the series and links for each entry.] Rave Racer - Arcade, 1995 Arcade, Come Home The arcade exclusive is a class of game that becomes more depressing as time goes on. As both arcades and the machines within them continue to die out a...

I have found that as the years go on I enjoy watching TV way more than I do playing videogames. I do think that a large part of it is the initial investment needed to figure out a new game. Tutorials can go on for way too long and if a story is boring and the gameplay is anything less than spectacular then I just feel like I am wasting my time. TV on the other hand has such a low barrier to ent...

Hello! Aside from a couple images that are from the very end of Mass Effect 3, I will not be discussing spoilers in the text for anything. Just the images! They're both tired. The 7th generation of consoles introduced something that hadn't really existed for mainstream audiences in the past; capturing screenshots and footage. Early on I recognized that the Share button on the DualShock 4 was go...

It's fair to say I have a lot of fondness for RPGs, even if they tend to require the most time to complete out of everything else vying for attention in my backlog. I'm in the midst of two right now - Mass Effect Andromeda and Battle Chasers: Nightwar - and while there's no end in sight for either, I'm still in it for the long haul. I've tried to put into words before now what makes the appeal...

I want to start by saying that I like the New Super Mario Bros. series. I've only played New Super Mario Bros. 2 and now New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe , but I enjoyed 2 and I've played a couple worlds of U and had fun with that as well. So I have nothing against this series, and when they make the next game I'll probably buy that too. But I want that game to be called New Super Mario Bros. U D...

My favorite shared aspect of a number of Indie RPGs I've played in the recent past, this week's Battle Chasers: Nightwar included, is they're built with a certain degree of restraint borne partially of the developers' limited resources and time. Because every monster encounter and party member and dungeon location takes time to plan out and balance, the developers have to keep the game's design...

Hi Giant Bomb, I'm not one for writing blogs. However, over the past week I've used Giant Bomb in a different way and wanted to express gratitude toward this site. I'll be honest, I don't post too often, besides the yearly Santa Hat post that I try to create. I've been using Giant Bomb since the year I graduated college back in 2009. I love it. It's my go to place for pretty much anything gamin...

As you all may know, the annual charity speedrunning stream AGDQ (Awesome Games Done Quick) is currently underway . What I usually do before the start of each of these week-long events is ensure that our wiki is all up to date to make it easier on the stream organizers to coordinate their Twitch channel, as Twitch relies on our API for most of its game information. In the past, I've used this a...

While the world had its share of difficulties in 2018, the video game releases this year on the other hand were mostly excellent. The first part of the year started slowly enough with only a few titles taking the spotlight but the 2nd half of the year was absolutely packed with great releases. Several series finally got proper sequels including Red Dead, Hitman, Valkyria Chronicles and Super Sm...

Toby: the Secret Mine is a game created with a very clear idea of what it wants to be. What it wants to be is Limbo. It isn’t. But in its failure to reach that height it shows what made Limbo so very special. I bought Limbo for 360 when it first came out but never played it. I got a free upgrade when it was ported to Xbox One in 2014, and then played it in July 2016 in preparation for Inside ,...

A testament to the oddity that we will collectively remember as 2018 is the fact that in the Adam timeline there was a God of War game worth playing. Years back I grudgingly ran myself through the three numbered games and the two spin-offs available at the time on the Hard difficulty, it was a horrible experience. Not because of the challenge, that was embraced, but the monotonous flailing of t...

Before I begin writing about the game I figured I would give some personal back story as to why the game had such a profound impact on me at a very specific time in my life. Most of us have probably have a piece of media touch us in some way at a time in our lives. A sort of moment in time when things just align in a way that almost makes it seem like you're living your very own version of The...

Welcome to the newly condensed Saturday Summaries experience! For real, the older format was getting a little bloated and more frequently than not ate up most of my Saturday, or at least the part of it when the sun was up. From here on, I'm going to stick to a quickfire bulletpoint rundown of everything I've been writing, playing, and watching. I will still write some elaborate pre-amble if an...

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a three-episode prequel story set a few years before Life is Strange and built with the same engine, focusing on Chloe Price's teen years in the period between when Max Caulfield was out of the picture and before she came back to Arcadia Bay and Chloe's life. Still dealing with the tragic loss of her father and bereft of confidants and outlets for her grief,...
