I'm betting it will be, but maybe not, you never know, right?
Catherine
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Feb 17, 2011
The first game developed by Atlus for the PS3/Xbox 360. Made by the Persona Team, The game is an "adult oriented" action-adventure/horror game with puzzle platforming stages.
Any word on whether the US 360 edition will be region locked?
Nah, you can't enforce a region lock on a PS3 game. The system is 100% regionfree." PS3 version probably won't be. I'm ignorant on this topic so I really have no idea. "
The 360 version, however......a month or two ago VGP posted on their blogs "nope" after claiming they asked Atlus. A couple of weeks later they pulled down the page and blogpost. hmmmmmmm.
If you have a PS3, get the PS3 version.
" @CrazyChris said:Oh! So it's regionfree for sure for the 360? Or you bought it for the PS3?" Would love if someone actually released it in the EU. Otherwise it'll be one pricy import...IF it's regionfree to begin with. "I paid 45 euros for Catherine including shipping costs.I would pay 15 euros more had I bought domestically. "
" @mutha3 said:Sorry, mate, I bought it for the PS3. I was just sayin' importing's usually cheaper than buying new games domestically in euroland." @CrazyChris said:Oh! " @Yanngc33 said:Well it's not region free for people using SD TVs, trust me I had a US PS3 and certain PAL games did not work when I tried to play on my SD TV. It's not region free to non HD players. No, its not. System not working at certain resolutions =/= region lock. The system itself is completely region free. Well I emailed Atlus US out of boredom and unsurprisingly they wouldn't tell me. Swings and roundabouts...

Allow me to make your day," I know this is off topic but does anyone know of any good import sites to get the US version to the UK?. Because i don't want to wait until they put it out here. "

Used them since the Nintendo 3DS launch.
" @FluxWaveZ said:Actually, that's not true. Publishers can region lock PS3 games. It is possible. I don't know which games, if any, actually use the region locking though. I, uh, can't find anything on Sega actually officially stating the PS3 version was region-locked. So far I've only seen sites assuming the PS3 was region locked because they didn't specify it wasn't when saying Bayonetta was region locked. But wikipedia has shown me this.........." @mutha3 said:

Additionally, some games separate online players per region, such as Metal Gear Solid 4 Online. A PSN store only contains content for its own country, for example the UK store will not supply usable map packs for an imported US copy of Call of Duty 4. The PS3 actually supports hardware region locking for PS3 games as well, based on Blu-ray regions, but as of current it is unused and all current region lockouts and separations are about online services. The PS3 also restricts the access to PlayStation Network by region, such as the online store, news and upcoming releases.
However, like that article says, its pretty much never been used. And its based of the fact that its technologically possible....however the fact that its never used pretty much tells me that Sony probably makes companies sign something which disallow them to enforce it. It has never happened even with companies who are known for it.
If the game is region-free, Atlus would put out a press release for the sole purpose of letting us know that. I have yet to see that press release.
