    Produced by Casio in October 1983, the PV-1000 cost 14,800¥ at launch and had a Z80A processor and a mere 2kb of RAM (half of which was dedicated to the Character Generator) under the hood. It was released alongside a "PV-2000" computer system that was compatible with the PV-1000's controllers, but not its games.

    Ultimately, the system is only notable for its dismal failure: Only 15 titles were ever produced, and legend has it that the system was pulled from shelves after just weeks. As a result, the system is startlingly rare to find. Casio replaced it with two MSX-based computers that same year, the PV-7 and PV-16, ensuring that it would not be mourned. They would try their hand at consoles again, over a decade later with the Casio Loopy.
