    Overview

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, not to be confused with the 2009 game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, is a modern-military first-person shooter developed by Infinity Ward (among several other studios) and published by Activision for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 28, 2022.

    The nineteenth main installment of the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare II is the second game in the Modern Warfare reboot series (after the 2019 game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) and follows Task Force 141 and their allies (including Mexican Special Forces unit Los Vaqueros) as they hunt down an Iranian terrorist in possession of American-made ballistic missiles in the year 2022.

    It features the standard campaign, multiplayer, and co-operative Special Ops mode, with several improvements to its gameplay mechanics. Along with several new game modes, the multiplayer was released in-conjunction with an updated sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone, known as Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which this game integrates with. It later received a direct sequel in November 2023, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
