Bounce Pad
A common object in many games. When stepped on, the player is bounced into the air to reach a higher ground. More often known as jump pad.
Overview
A bounce pad is some sort of platform or platform derivative (like an actual pad or a mattress) that bounces the player upwards. This type of pad is generally used in two ways: a game mechanic in platformers that allows the player to reach new platforms or items that he could not jump to otherwise (example: Sonic, Sly Cooper), and in FPS games where the bounce pad is used as a rapid transport system for players to reach another area of the map. The latter type of bounce pad appears most often in multiplayer as opposed to single player (example: Quake, Halo).
