The Animus 2.0, or 'Baby', as it is nicknamed, was an Animus built by Rebecca Crane for the Assassins during 2012. According Rebecca, the Animus 2.0 is better than any model of Animus employed by Abstergo Industries. The Animus 2.0 looks radically different due to the fact it is a chair, increasing comfort for the user. The Animus 2.0 appears in both Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. One of the flaws in the design of all the Animi is the lagged translation software. The problem does not occur as often in the 2.0 model as it did in Abstergo's 1.28 model (which appeared in the original Assassin's Creed).

One of the key features of the Animus 2.0 is the ability for someone to externally alter and work with genetic memories from outside the Animi. For example, Shaun Hastings provides Desmond with information about different buildings and landmarks in Renaissance Italy, many of which proved invaluable during the course of the plot.
