    Overview

    An afro AKA a "fro" is a hair style that originated as part of Egyptian culture. However since the early 1960s it has become increasingly popular with the African-American population. It is when the hair grows upward away from the head in a ball like shape. In order for one to sport the 'do', one must have a very tight curls in their hair.
