I played through Madden Longshot too. I had heard some good things about and just wanted to say it's fuckin horrible.

It's 3+ hours of cutscenes, shitty quick time events, and casual racism (hey! I'm a black quarterback who isn't smart enough to learn the playbook! Let me enlist the help of my white friend and dumb down the plays so that I can learn them!). You barely play any actual football during it and any football that you do play doesn't resemble the actual football that you play in every other madden mode (you can't control the playcall, can't audible, can't scramble etc).

Also, the endings suck. If you get drafted, your friend does not and vice versa. I beat Marino and won 21-0 in both 7 on 7s, completed all five challenges at the end and my buddy Cole had something like 250 yards and 3 tds in them. I finished with A- potential and a score of 8.9. Then I got drafted in the 7th (last) round and my friend did not. What a crock of shit.

I typically don't care about spoilers but can you please stop spoiling Mario Odyssey its the biggest game this year and lots of us have not played it yet. Between last week with the final world and this week with the costumes. At least do a warning or something if you are. There isn't much to Mario besides the gameplay and the charm.

There's been enough data collected to show this game is astronomically grindy to get all the heroes (in addition to other in-game perks) that give you significant advantages. This game was clearly calibrated toward the 'whale' economy

If you have to implement 'gacha'/slot-machine mechanics into your game to drive monetisation, then that raises red flags for me that the creator cannot stand behind their content without having to employ predatory skinner-box-like mechanics to make money via addiction. Hell, the fact that many games are reluctant to even show the drop-rate should raise red flags for everyone. The resistance to even do that simple change should be a pretty insidious red flag for anyone.

Heck there's already a way to do this while respecting the customer's time and mind - Titanfall 2 already figured this out:

• All premium/paid-for content is cosmetic only; maps, modes and gameplay items are provided as free updates to ensure balance and prevent community splitting
• There is no lootbox/RNG system - all premium items can be purchased directly i.e. you can buy exactly the skins/taunts/decals you want without the exploitative gambling shit that lootboxes encourage

I heard on the Bombcast a while back that the highest rated game adaptation (at least on Rotten Tomatoes) was that 4-episode CastleVania animated series on Netflix. I have yet to enjoy a live action game adaptation. If someone like Lord & Miller did a Mario movie, I'd be all for it.

@cvagts: I stopped after they mentioned the end of Mario is on the freaking moon! I would imagine so since the "statute of limitations" is apparently like 3 weeks for Dan.

Halo Forward Unto Dawn was a perfectly ok movie. Probably the best video game movie I've seen

I finally realized Dan asking every question that pops up in his head on a podcast or video saves him time from going down Wikipedia rabbit holes. Kind of like getting through college without going to class, only slightly less infuriating.

I was really bummed out by all the Mario Odyssey spoilers in this episode. I would have really liked to experience a lot of that stuff myself :(

Dan was talking about us being past the 'statute of limitations'...the game has only been out for a few weeks!! Not all of us have the time to get to the end of a game so quickly ffs. Real bummer guys.

I miss when spoilers meant avoid talking about story and not avoid talking about anything that happens at all.

Hate to break it to that one duder but that is not the only reason ISPs advertise speeds in megabits per second rather than megabytes.

Thought regarding data bit vs byte stuff: In a technical sense, it might be true that bits are actually used in physical line. But this doesn't explain why the company's marketing team uses them as the primary focus when the lay person does not really relate to them.

I skipped ahead when they start with Mario, in the Goty talk we are aware of everything Will be spoiled but here just mention a World with no warning was unfortunate. Still sure there Will be plenty of fun things to discover though :) but yeah the spoiler handling with Wolfenstein 2 was better handled.
