I refuse to play a half measure version when I can just wait a month and play a newer and better version, but I also don't want to wait!

The Giant Beastcast - Episode CXXX

Battlefront 2's microtransaction sytem was hardly the best but the impact of the 'pay to win' was overblown. I've played all during the trial and never felt I was at a disadvantage due to cards. I was at a disadvantage due to going in like John Wick and trying to take down an entire team by myself. Good players trump starcards. Hopefully that they've changed it more people give it a chance because it's a really fun game.

I'm no fan of loot boxes but I do understand their implementation. Games cost 60 bucks yeah but most people are in the 'wait for a sale' mode due to having so much to play or whatever other reason. These companies have to find ways to make continued income otherwise the medium dies. Sure budgets need to drop but in that so do our expectations on graphics because that is the most costly part of development. And again, I'm not arguing for corporate welfare (F em and their bought tax breaks) but just understanding the business of games. Even CD Projekt Red has hinted at the inclusion of something like this in Cyberpunk to help make it more of a financial success. Whether they are 'gambling' or not is a whole other discussion.

There's a fallacy of 'just make good games' but we see good games bomb all the time. It's so hard to gauge what will or won't be a financial success right out of the gate. It isn't as simple as 'good games.'

To end the my thoughts (I'm proctoring an exam and bored hence the length), I've been gaming for 25 years and love it and don't want it to disappear. I understand things change and business practices do as well. I have also never paid for a loot box and don't ever plan on it. I also don't want to get ripped off or screwed over by companies. As long as gamers are vocal but mature and reasonable, we can help make sure companies stay to the fine line.

In the "post-game" of Wolfenstein 2 right now. It's my GOTY. Story & gameplay are incredible. Things happened that I've never experienced in a video game before. Just exceptional.

@ybbaaabby I'm sure the emails will come in, but Best Buy's GCU gives you 20% off all new games no time restrictions. Agree wholeheartedly that its a bummer that their trade in system isn't updating with new games. It used to update immediately and there was a chance you could make back as much if not more than you paid for the discount.

No they're pretty careful about talking around any specifics, I don't remember them saying anything I'd consider a spoiler.

@alex: You're not wrong when you say Brutals are similar to Rabbids, but you can see it this way, maybe they look like that because it's the Japanese Interpretation, like when the designers from Square Enix draw the DC Heroes. I think its just style choice, like Manga is similar to comic books but with total different character design.

I honestly prefer Brutals to Rabbids, even knowing Rabbids came first.

@apothaeos: I think that Difficulty ,where you die when not seeing the enemy, is unlocked after finishing the game, and available for future runs. I remember the conversation you are mentioning and if i recall correctly it's about Wolfenstein 1. It feels to me they changed the difficulty scale for this game putting the "one hit" difficulty after finishing the game, and upping the medium difficulty from W1 to hard to W2.

I'm a dog and A Night in the Woods is GotY. Well Zelda is but sometimes I like NitW more than BotW. I think.
